Few of us will ever reach the lofty position of king in the land (or in our case President). It is without doubt that the most notable king in all Biblical history is David. He was not perfect. But, the Bible declares he is “a man after God’s heart (Acts 13:22).” He was used by God to give us the majority of the Psalms. Psalm 21 is probably not at the top of the list of favorite Psalms. But, there is a message in it for us.
It is important to note that four times, David calls God his “rock.” This not an ordinary rock. It is not a boulder. It is a jagged cliff. It is a rock that overhangs and forms caves. David must have been familiar with these types of rocks.
So, what is all the excitement about? Psalm 1 illustrates a contrast of the blessed man with the wicked man. Or, to make it easier to remember, it is a contrast between the righteous and the unrighteous.
